Patrick earned a Ph.D. in Medieval English Literature from the University of 
Wisconsin - Madison in 2003. He taught and developed a variety of courses at 
University of Mary Washington and University of Richmond before becoming an 
Instructional Technology Specialist at University of Mary Washington in 2006. 
In that role, he learned PHP, Javascript, TEI, XML, and other technologies to 
support and develop teaching and learning. In various projects with faculty from 
across many academic disciplines, he helped build sites using WordPress, Drupal, 
Omeka, as well as home-grown, project-specific applications.

In 2011, he joined the Roy Rosenzweig Center for History and New Media at George 
Mason University as a developer and manager for the Omeka development team. There, 
he plans and builds Omeka plugins, contributes to the Omeka core, helps build sites 
with Omeka, and helps plan the future direction for Omeka.
