Mukurtu CMS ( is a free and open source content management solution for Indigenous communities, museums, archives and libraries to share, license and curate their digital heritage.  As part of an IMLS funded National Leadership grant, Mukurtu CMS was developed and built from the ground up to addresses the specific concerns of Indigenous communities and the diverse collections they manage, preserve and wish to share on their own terms. The heart and soul of Mukurtu CMS is its use of cultural and sharing protocols to define fine grain levels of access for the materials and knowledge within the system. Completely flexible and adaptable to any communities needs, Mukurtu CMS is a grassroots solution to a globally defined set of culturally distinct needs.
