Children’s Museum of Houston

Cheryl McCallum, Ed.D., is director of education at the Children’s Museum of Houston, where she has developed and managed educational exhibits and programs for the past 19 years. In 2009, she led the development process for seven new exhibits that opened in a 25,000 square foot expansion of the Museum’s galleries. As part of the decade-long collaboration with Houston Public Library, McCallum recently directed the development of the IMLS-funded Family Literacy Involvement Program (FLIPkits.org) through which over 2,000 activity kits are made available for loan through 34 Library branches. She is currently project director for 21-Tech.org. Prior to her role at the Museum, she founded and directed the Discovery Program at Camp Allen in Navasota, Texas, a residential outdoor education program for elementary students. Her doctoral work was in Instructional Technology with a focus on use of video media as learning scaffolds in hands-on exhibits.
