Digital Preservation

Workshop Leader: Robert Horton, Institute of Museum and Library Services

This is a brief introduction to a complex topic. The goal is to help participants learn more about what would be practical and appropriate for their environments. They will explore what digital preservation covers; examine some options and issues through discussion of a case study; and start to define their institutions’ needs and capacities. The case study will particularly address the costs and benefits of digital preservation, along with pertinent legal and policy considerations and the possibilities of collaboration. At the end of the workshop, participants will be on a common ground, positioning them to work with others in this field.
